Extended Spring Break
During spring break I spent some time up in Chattanooga. It was exciting to run a half marathon in a different state. When I first got to Chattanooga I ended up exploring parts of town to see what it had to offer and was surprised by some of the art on display. I also snagged a delicious donut from the bakery nearby. It was a little cool out but people were outside playing games and taking advantage of the beautiful weather.
The one thing I will say about the Chattanooga Half Marathon is that it was still dark when the race started. I had completely forgotten how daylight savings time would effect the race. Luckily I got to catch a view of the sunrise over the river on my run.
Once I finished my race Saturday I spent some time exploring Pidgeon Forge and the Smokey Mountains which was not too far away. While I was there I walked around The Island which was a little too touristy for me and then grabbing lunch at Old Mill Square for some Southern Comfort food. The only thing I regret during my time there is not visiting Dollywood. Once I finished eating I drove through the Smokey Mountains to get back to Chattanooga. The drive was relaxing although I almost got lost at one point due to the signal in the area. I wrapped up my travels with some delicious pecan pie once it was over.
While I had a good time, I also was/am concerned about what the future looks like due to the Corona Virus. It wasn't a big deal during my trip but I had a feeling that things would get worse, I just didn't know how. The virus has impacted everyone around me, including myself. It's not something to take lightly but I think we all need to be strong during this tough time. Check in with others and be creative. Find graditude in small things and limit ourselves on social media. Make the best of a bad situation and let go of the things you can't control.
