An Honest 2019

In 2018 I had so much fun traveling and staying active throughout the year. Looking back at some of the goals I set for myself, I feel accomplished and happy with some of the success I had. I couldn't have done it without the help of a few friends too. In 2018 I was able to:
  • Read 15 books last year. Not quiet as challenging as 2017's goal of 30 books.
  • Travel to Chicago to the first time. I have never been that far north in the US.
  • Run a half marathon. I ended up running two instead and break my personal record by 10 min.
  • Cook more vegan recipes. I was vegan for a few months but it didn't stick. It's still a win for me because I know it's possible for me to do that again.
  • Surviving my first year teaching. I ended up moving to a new school over the summer but am getting used to being a teacher as I closeout my second year in a couple of months.
Looking back at all of my goals, I can barely believe it has been a year. If I had to sum up 2018 in one word it would probably have to be the word, journey. Moving ahead to this year, I realize that I want to be honest with myself and the people around me. I want to have more honest and organic experiences. When it comes to goals I want to set for myself in 2019, they are to:
  • Visit New York for the first time. I set this goal for 2018 originally.
  • Buy a car for the first time. My old car has been with me for 12 years. It's time.
  • Volunteer with more organizations in Jackson.
  • Take dance lessons again. I used to enjoy dancing when I lived in Baton Rouge.
  • Move into a new place. My lease is up at the end of the year.
  • Run 3 races I have never done before.
I want 2019 to be a year of honesty.I want to be able to express myself, while being honest about who I am as a person. It will take some practice but I am looking forward to the New Year. What are some predictions, goals, or resolutions you would like to see next year?
