Ringing in the New Year

2020 and 2021 have been a struggle for me. In 2020 I had to teach virtually for the first time, and somehow during the holidays I contracted Covid. In 2021, I had to teach hybrid for 6 months. During that time, I injured my foot in March training for a race. It took me a while to get back on me feet but I had to cancel my race. Over the summer I finally had a break. Then in August, we came back in person to teach  in person while wearing mask. In November I ended up in a car accident and during the holidays I got sick again.

While the last two years have been a struggle, I am sort of looking forward to the future and seeing what it holds. As I reflect on the struggles of the last two years, I'm also thinking about some of the things that went well. In 2021, I had the opportunity to run a half marathon and a few 5k races which I hadn't done since the start of the Pandemic. There were a few concerts I attended over the last few months including Brad Paisley, Brothers Osborne, and Neal Francis. I also had the opportunity to visit my grandparents for the first time since 2019. It was a beautiful moment. I was also able to get a lot of reading done, learn some Spanish along the way, and pick up tennis as well.

So what does this year look like for me? I am thinking about potentially moving away from Jackson and finding a new job. I want to see some more of my favorite artist perform in person and run some more races. I want to build more strength at the the gym and maybe pick up a new sport or hobby a long the way. I also hope to write more during the next 12 months, too. As I pick some new things up, I will remind myself to be consistent about the things that did work for me in 2020 and 2021.
