Unfinished Business

New Year's resolutions/goals are always tough to keep up with throughout the year. Sometimes you lose track of time, priorities change, or the goal is impossible to achieve . I usually make it a habit to get started as soon as the new year happens while being realistic with what I can and can't do. One of those goals was to try different workout sessions at my gym or at another gym.
For the past few weeks I tried out Orange Theory, Barre, and High Intensity Interval Training. It was a fun learning experience although I did come out of it feeling sore. I am not used to working out certain areas of my body, which is something I am getting used to. What I love about each workout is that it is not monotonous. There is always something new to learn and I feel like I am going to keep trying this out even though I have already met my goal.
Another habit I have made for myself is sleeping earlier at night and waking up a bit earlier in the morning. I picked it up from a podcast and it got me thinking about how I feel about my morning routine. Most people usually get up in the morning to go to work. While I don't have a choice about going to work, I always have a choice about how I start my morning routine. Lately I have been reading books in the morning and stretching. It had made my mornings better. I have been focused on reading any unfinished books I have or were in the middle of reading. The Nightingale was a page turner and I am currently trying to finish up The Way of the Kings.
In addition to what I have been up to this year, I ended up doing a 5K this weekend in Baton Rouge placing 9th overall. It was the perfect opportunity for me to spend time in a place I consider a second home. I ended up running around the LSU campus, eating at Bistro Byronz, and caught the LSU parade to celebrate the champs. While I spent most of my time running around this weekend, I am thinking about some unfinished business from last year and I may end up doing a marathon.
