Run to the Hills

It's beginning to look a lot like Autumn and Halloween is right around the corner. Colder weather has finally crept up on us and I couldn't be more excited about it. I have been breaking out my long sleeve shirts and embracing the Halloween spirit.  Over the past two weeks I have also started taking Yoga classes. Every time I have gone, I feel more energized and ready to take on the world. I also feel like it has helped in the recovery process of the injury I have.

In addition to Yoga, I have started running on a consistent basis. It has been about 3 months since I have done any type of long distance running. I have been hesitant to get back on my feet and get back on the road due to getting injured again. This morning though I ended up running over 9 miles without thinking about it. It wasn't until half way through mile 4 that I realized I needed to turn around. After today I just feel ready to take on new challenges and discover new tunes. I am slowly learning how to take care of myself after a run, too. I am focused less on competing with others and focused on enjoying the weather, while letting go of the things that have been weighing me down.

I have a long road ahead but I am excited to start training for the Gulf Coast Half Marathon. Will I ever do a full marathon? It's a possibility. I am going to focus on one challenge at a time. Is there any new challenges you are excited about this fall and if so what are you doing to overcome the odds?
