Recovery Time
Over the past few weeks I have challenged myself to start drawing in order to let my creative side out. I don't have the patience when it comes to some of the smaller details in drawing but I think I am pretty okay at it. I know I am going to make mistakes or something isn't going to look right but that's not the point. I have had a lot of fun looking up how to draw certain cartoon characters. Some of my favorite characters to draw have been Donald Duck, Ms. Marvel, and Rocko. It is nice to take a trip down memory lane. As I have been drawing, I have also noticed that I have been able to sleep a little better. I dream a lot more too.
In addition to drawing, I have also been taking the time to redecorate my room and be more outgoing when it comes to some of the events that Jackson has had to offer. Last weekend I had the opportunity to go to the book festival with a friend. While I ended up without any books, I had the opportunity to listen to Justice Sonia Sotomayor speak about her own personal story and what influenced her to write her own book. I think the thing that stood out to me when she spoke was the idea of asking people how they feel when they share their own personal story. It is easy for people to be caught up in listening to someone without ever asking them how a certain event, place, person, or thing made them feel. It sounds simple and a great way to find out more about someone.
This weekend I also attended a music festival in Clinton called the Red Brick Road festival. While it was small, I thought the music lineup was good. I even caught a few local films and documentaries.I enjoyed the one about Attache, which is the show choir in Clinton. I had never heard of it before but would be interested in checking it out.At the festival I also got to try out the food. I ended up eating some Cajun pasta and grabbing a Popsicle. Both were delicious.
Over the past few weeks Jackson has slowly started growing on me. I am almost ready to get back on my feet and run with the running group I used to run with at the beginning of the year. In the meantime I am starting to gain interest in different ways to work out and am tempted to try different things to pass the time. Anyone have a specific workout they enjoy doing? I would love to hear all about it.
